I Have You Now / Я поруч тепер

Tatimost — I Have You Now: the shadow of a small girl on a warm wall as petals fall.
▶ Listen
Я поруч тепер (Ukrainian)
I Have You Now (English)

A girl carried shame that was never hers. This is a love song from the woman she became, back to her.

She was alone with something too big for her, in a house where love came with conditions. And she did what children do — she decided the problem was her. That she was too much. That if she had been better, someone would have stayed. She spent years after that giving herself away, hoping to be wanted, and coming up empty.

The understanding arrives much later, and it changes everything: the shame was never guilt. It was grief that no one witnessed. A child reaching for love in the only ways she knew is not a thing that requires forgiveness. There was never anything to forgive.

The shadow of a child bowing beside the shadow of a grown woman.
She doesn't get rescued by a stranger. She grows into the woman who comes back for her.

So the song is not an apology and not a confession. It's a hand reaching back through time. The woman I became goes back, takes the child's hand, and tells her the truth: it was never your fault. You were always worth keeping. I'm here now.

The shape of it — this is the song

It's built as one voice that gets cut in half.

First half — the child, alone. A small, thin, unformed voice. Almost too quiet. She hides her heart, she lists everything she believes is wrong with her, and finally, at her most fragile, she asks to be forgiven.

Then the cut. The instant she finishes asking, her voice is gone. On the very next beat, with no gap at all, a grown woman answers in full chest voice: there is nothing to forgive.

Second half — the woman. She answers every single thing the girl said, one by one. And she never leaves. Nothing to forgive loops over the groove until it stops sounding like an argument and starts sounding like a fact. The song ends on I have you now — «Я поруч тепер» — fading out.

A warm close portrait of a woman smiling gently in golden light.
There is nothing to forgive.

The child never gets rescued by a stranger. She grows into the woman who comes back for her. The voice change is the healing. Everything else in the arrangement is just there to get out of its way.

I wanted it to be a lullaby, not a lament. Not a sad song about being broken — the feeling of finally being held.

White blossom in soft light, petals drifting.

If you're carrying something you decided was your fault when you were far too young to judge — I hope this one reaches you the way it reached her. You were always worth keeping.
